Our walnut trees will live for 900 years
Our chesnuts for 500
Our eucalyptus for 200 years
Our children 100
We will be 50 years
But our love has been planted forever

Welcome to the Blue Mountains Community Gardens Website
We would love to see you on our gardening day every Friday 10.30 am - 3 pm.  Bring your enthusiasm and gardening gloves, our garden would love to see you!

Thank you to Cittaslow for again donating proceeds from the Soul Food Cafe at Winter Magic.  We hope to be able to donate more produce next year.  The money will be well spent including creating more crops of potatoes.  We feel that as a community garden we need to be at the forefront in providing some extra food in the current crisis regarding food shortages and fuel prices.  We just need to educate the locals to come and get pick apples when they are blemished!  We are all too used to supermarket quality food.

A huge thank you also to NRMA members organised by Warren Ross who came up the day before Winter Magic to help the beginnings of a potato bed 30 X 4 metres.  What a mammoth effort that was.  We had to wheel barrow everything down the length of the garden.  The garden bed is now complete with a huge effort from volunteers. In addition to potatoes, we will rotate with corn and pumpkins.  Watch this space for other work days coming up for weeding and harvesting.

September 22nd we will celebrate International Day of Peace with the local primary schools.  Katoomba North will be coming down to plant potatoes and Katoomba Primary will be holding their own ceremony and planting potatoes as well.  Both schools have focused on Peace as a virtue in lessons.  Katoomba North Primary infants created beautiful paintings of their own peaceful place.

The Festival of Joy will be on October 18th.  As always the Festival of Joy 2008 will be an event not to be missed.  Stalls, music, kids fun etc.  Check out this years full size poster here.  Line up of musicians so far includes, Wayne Brennan and friends, Lenny Marks, Anne Ridgway, Ecopella, Raphael and friends, Pack of Peasants and Mara and Llew Kiek.

Coming Soon:  A link to You Tube which shows a virtual tour of the gardens with interviews by Gary Caganoff.
