The
International Day of Peace
Peace Day - September 21
imagine . . . whirled peace!
Pinwheels for Peace
is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Art teachers, Ann
Ayers and Ellen McMillan, who teach at Monarch High School in Coconut
Creek, Florida, as a way for students to express their feelings about
what’s going on in the world and in their lives. The project was
quickly embraced by their students and the entire school community.
The projects have extended to a world wide participation in just two
years.
Blue
Mountains Organic Community Gardens worked with local schools
Katoomba North Primary School, and Katoomba Primary School. Kids created their beautiful pinwheels with their own special
messages.
Children
gathered on the labyrinth At 12 pm we had a minutes silence while
the kids stood on our beautiful labyrinth holding their pinwheels.
The children sang "Deep Peace" for us. Brief messages of peace
were spoken from the Buddhist and Brahma Kumaris group. The
children planted their pinwheels and had lunch while parents walked the
labyrinth afterwards to the beautiful Shakuhachi flute playing of
Bronwyn Kirkpatrick.
Deep
Peace to You!
This year we
will have International Peace Day on Monday September 22nd. This
will be a round the world thing so we still get to hook up when we have
a minutes silence with all those peaceful vibes. At this stage it
is the Katoomba primary schools. If any other schools are
interested they can contact us.
